H.264 NETWORK VIDEO SERVER & H.264 CELLULAR (GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA) VIDEO ENCODER

WE 1.264 inventing the future: the WE 1.264 is among the first network video servers worldwide to successfully integrate the H.264 codec on board.
WE 1.264 can perform radically better than any MPEG-4 video. Typically obtaining the same quality, or better, at half of the bit rate or even less.
WE 1.264 contains a number of new features, included the demos icing algorithm, a digital image process used to interpolate a complete image from the partial raw data received from the color-filtered image sensor. Those features allow H.264 to compress video much more effectively than older standards and provide more flexibility for application to a wide variety of network environments.

The new H.264 video server is available in 2 versions:
* WE 1.264 without PCMCIA slots
* WE 1.264-P with two PCMCIA slots

The "P" version offers external access to two 16-bit compliant PCMCIA slots, allowing operating two cards simultaneously, such as CF memory flash cards for on-board storage and GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA for mobile cellular networks.
H.264 VIDEO CODING

Also known as MPEG-4 Part 10 or Advanced Video Coding, the H.264 is a new digital video
Codec standard which is noted for achieving very high data compression.
The intent of the H.264 project was to create a new standard that would be capable of
Providing good video quality (at bit rates that are substantially lower than what previous
Standards would need) and to do so without so much of an increase in complexity as to
Make the design impractical to implement.

An additional goal was to do this in a flexible way that would allow the H.264 standard to
be applied to a wide variety of applications (e.g. both low and high bit rates, both low and
High resolution video) and to work well on a wide variety of networks and systems. But,
Compared to the MPEG-4, the H.264 demands higher performance from the same DSP: so
This determines a lower frame rate.

When the Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) option is checked in the configuration page
of SELEA WS1.264, the encoding automatically switches from H.264 to MPEG-4 codec. At
The moment most of the Real-time Players do not support the H.264: so live video can't be
Delivered to PDAs / Smartphones / Pocket PCs in H.264 format, which is normally available
Using the software and the ActiveX controls.

LIVE VIDEO OVER IP-BASED NETWORKS
A video server is a unique device for turning analog cameras into network cameras. WE 1.264 is a single channel video server with 1 analog input, that delivers high quality and high resolution D1 (704x576) video. SELEA WS1.264 allows you to use any standard analog CCTV camera to distribute digital images over IP-based networks, or directly over a phone line, using an ordinary modem. The images of the analog camera, connected to the WD 1.264 video server, are converted from PAL / NTSC to a digital signal (H.264 or MPEG-4 or M-JPEG), which can be displayed by any device using:
  • Web browser (Internet Explorer)
  • RTP player (e.g. Real One, Quick Time)
  • SELEA monitoring and/or surveillance software (ViewCAM / MultiCAM)
  • RTP player on Windows Mobile powered devices (PDA, smartphone, Pocket PC)
  • SELEA monitoring software (MiniCAM) on Windows Mobile powered devices
